Here are eight important things to check BEFORE switching the wall thermostat to cooling.

Outdoor Inspection:

Remove any unit covers or coil blankets from the outdoor unit.
Inspect outdoor unit panels – make sure they are all in place.
Remove any leaves or debris from the outdoor unit coils.
Repair or replace damaged or missing pipe insulation.

Indoor Inspection:

Change the indoor air filters.
Check the indoor condensate drain lines.
Clean the supply and return air vents.
Make sure your air conditioner is working properly on start up and throughout the first day (and turn it off immediately if it is not working!).
